Mental Strengthening & Training

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

A warrior girds themselves for battle... they prepare... they put on their armor, clean & prepare their weapons, train in martial arts... pray for peace, hope they won't have to fight but they do what they must to be ready in case they must... why? because that is what they have chosen to do... to serve, to protect, to help.

I was just thinking... don't we all, in 1 way or another... when we decide to tackle a project, do something new, earn a degree, move to another home, go on a vacation, get ready for a holiday or party? We do things to prepare... so that we will accomplish the goal, the task, the results we want...

I woke up today with a fresh urge to try... earlier this year, a sparkfriend posted something on a team that has stuck with me... "I am committed to this journey because I have 2 choices. Work at getting healthier and stay independent or slide into decline and dependence. I want to be the healthiest and fittest person that I can be."

Isso! That! That or Cupcakes now! well, that's my darn battle at the moment... trying to stop poking in the cupcakes so that I will be healthier instead of slide further into dependence. I want to be able to take care of myself, as long as possible... this is something I need to fight for and hold onto.

emoticon nods... yes, that is what I want too. more than cupcakes. and that means doing things to help myself accomplish that!

2 other SparkFriends have embarked on "mental strength training" courses and found it helpful...

I was thinking about this... dieting = the act of eating - what we choose to eat... hey, cupcakes and too much food is a diet... and can be used to gain weight! waves hand... but this kinda hurts me... so changing what I eat and how much is a choice to help myself. I want that.

Moving, strengthening my body will help me be able to take care of my physical needs, longer... as long as possible so I don't need someone else to do things for me. Yes, I want that too.

emoticon other things good for the heart, our health - you know doctor/medication stuff, enough sleep and rest to recover and restore ourselves so we can get up and do more... Yes, I want that too...

emoticon emoticon emoticon Music, flowers, sunshine, rainbows, white puffy clouds, furbaby snuggles, heart2heart chats, love, friendship, faith... happy... yes, I want that too...

emoticon emoticon emoticon So today, eat well, move well, be well and choose things that help. Do something to strengthen determination, your heart and your soul. Prepare, pick up and use our tools, share the journey, here, together with friends!

emoticon Thank you for sharing your Spark here. You make a difference in my life. It is nice to know other people who are doing these things too! Cheers :)

I've been on a diet similar to the cupcakes and too much food -- mine has been M&M's and fast food. Yes, this diet has led to weight gain. Not what I want. Time to pick up my tools and prepare for the necessary change. Time to strengthen my brain so my heart can win the food battles to come. What do I want more? Will this help me or hurt me? Where is my current path leading me? Is that where I want to go?

Fabulous blog! It really is all about what is most important, what we want most that determines what we do, how we behave, how we act. WE are in control.
