Surgery to clean up arthritis & torn maniscus

Tomorrow will mark 3 weeks since I had surgery on my knee. I still have some pain and there are some days worse than others. I had a late afternoon surgery. I had just 2 little incisions, one for the camera to see what they were doing, and the other for doing the work. After surgery, the nurse helped me to dress. I don't think she was impressed with my blue jeans until she said in a surprised voice, "Its a skirt!" I fooled here. I, honestly, the bandaging would not have fit over the bandaging. Before we left Zootown, we stopped at Cracker Barrel. Hubby went in and got our food to go and we are in the parking lot. That evening, I could barely put that leg down. I relied heavily on a walker. Getting up my porch steps was agony and I had to go to the bathroom so bad. After I made it, I went straight to bed. It was after 9PM. Next morning, I noticed I wasn't putting much weight on the walker, so I tried a couple steps without it and I haven't used the walker since. I had to walk slowly and carefully. As the doctor said, I could take the bandaging off on Saturday, and I did. I also sit light exercises the day after surgery. I was told to do them, even if its a little uncomfortable. The first couple days it was difficult to do them, but I felt better afterwards. My leg felt like it weighed a ton. I quit the prescription pain relievers day after surgery. The picture of the leg right after the bandaging came off. A few days after surgery, the doctor was impressed at how well I was doing and that I hadn't been using a walker. He stated it was probably because of being in good shape with good muscle tone. I've been doing the exercises since I've had PT for sciatic nerve pain. The strengthened my leg muscles, among other muscles. Today, as I said tomorrow will be 3 weeks since surgery. I still have a slight limp most of the time. I'm able to walk a mile without stopping. Any advice for anyone planning this surgery? EXERCISE before. Get you leg and knee muscles built up.
