The Struggle is Real Y'all!!!

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

I didn't realize just how much of a sweet tooth I had till I got serious about losing weight and eating healthy.

Day 3 of "I'm going to do this NOW" and I find myself at the convenience store, with morning coffee in my hand staring down the box of fresh donuts thinking "I don't even like that kind but I might eat it just to have a donut".

What is the world is wrong with me?!?!?!

I don't want to obsess about the sweets, so I caved, and bought myself a York peppermint patty. Which I ate on my way home. 210 calories is way better than the 500+ calories of the single donut.

I know denying myself to the point of obsession isn't going to help my weight loss, but neither will indulging every time the whim comes my way.

Anyone know of low calorie, low fat, super sweet options that might curb this sweet tooth while helping me keep on track?

Dried apples are portable and sweet (as long as you get them without added sugar). I also like prunes, grapes and berries!

emoticon fruit after meals - small schoolboy apples/oranges. I like 1/2 banana to scoop thru a tbsp. melted peanut butter & square of dark chocolate. the dark chocolate seems to quell the sweet tooth... as does a cuppa tea or something bitter - similar to brushing teeth - also berries dipped in no added sugar cool whip, or a squirt of that whip on cuppa no added sugar hot cocoa. cup of chilled watermelon.

the question to ponder - does the bite or 2 or little sweet satisfy or ignite/continue/prolong the urge.... fruit helps me but say the same 200 cals in a cookie doesn't. not sure it's chemical or emotional. when the bite ignites more urges, sometimes I try something salty like a pickle. worth experimenting.... go4it & find what works4u :)

Why not try gum or mints for awhile? They will both keep your jaws busy.
