My New Journey So Far

Today marks the end of the 11th week of 2019. Like many years before this one, I vowed to lose weight. Unlike previous years, I'm doing it! As of last Wednesday (BLC weigh-in day) I was down 17.4 pounds.
During these weeks, I have clearly focused on what I want from this process and have chosen each day to put those longer term goals ahead of my immediate gratification. What is interesting about that is that I am (once again) learning that I can be immediately gratified by things other than food. For example, I am relearning that pushing myself on the exercise front is very gratifying, both in terms of results and in the way it makes me feel. It gives me such an emotional boost that I have again become eager to get to my workout each day.
I am really pleased with myself and it feels so much better than beating myself up for what I haven't done and what I could have done. I'm not going to ask myself why I didn't do it sooner. I am just going to be grateful that I am doing it now!
