A Years Worth of Progress!

I know I've been MIA for a bit (blame My Fitness Pal)! But I haven't stopped working towards my goal. I'm almost 50 lbs down - there was a three month duration when I was mindful of my calories, but was allowing myself to chill while life circumstances changed! A good friend of mine moved in with us to get her life back together in October; originally it was agreed upon that she'd only stay four weeks.....she's leaving mid-February because we just can't support another person (we have a family of five). During that time my mother-in-law came to visit for Thanksgiving and raised hell. She's a lovely lady it's just that she's high energy and sometimes abrasive, which causes tension in the house hold. That's a story for another time!
Then Christmas rolled around and things were magical, depressing, and simultaneously anxiety-inducing. My birthday is the day after Christmas so TREATS ALL AROUND! Due to my gun sticking I didn't gain ANY weight over that stressful time frame of over indulgence. I realigned myself and increased my activity levels + counted EVERY calorie for January! Weighed in at a new low, too!
February 5th marks an entire year that I've committed to this new lifestyle. I've learned to enjoy food while remaining mindful. Forgiveness of myself was also a new one! And I know this sounds corny, but I've learned to be kind to myself. I had such a bad internal monologue throughout my life. When I actively changed the way I spoke towards myself is when I saw the most change in my lifestyle. I finally understand why so many people tote that line "love yourself". IT'S TRUE! I mean think of how easily we forgive our children, cheer up friends/loved ones, help strangers and so forth - why not give the same treatment to YOU?
I am happy to back on here sharing my success with you! I hope to remain active on here and inspire any one that I can! Just remember that you can do it so long as you don't give up! Thanks for reading. God Bless ya'll.
