Getting to Know the Neighborhood (Even More)
Sunday, December 23, 2018
My sister, on one of those use-it-or-lose-it before the end of the year vacation jaunts, has been pulling me to walk around the neighborhood in the mornings. We average four miles, which means I complete my 10,000 daily step goal before I have to go in to work.
At first I was pretty resistant, even though I knew I needed to do it. Between my dog's passing away (I used to walk him around quite often) and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo - where participants try to write 50,000 words in November), I really hadn't been moving much. Now I'm not just getting used to it, I'm kind of looking forward to it (don't tell my sister, or I won't hear the end of it!

). Not only am I feeling better, but I'm actually spending some quality time with her, which is something else we hadn't been doing much of due to commitments and work and schedules.
Obviously, we're going to have to adjust our walks when she returns to work, but we'll still have most Sundays (I work retail in the weekday evenings and usually at some point on Saturdays), and we've established a bit of a rhythm.
It's been a pretty nice holiday season just for this alone, aside from all of the regular gift giving and other holiday festivities.
I hope the rest of you are finding unexpectedly wonderful memories this holiday season as well.
