WW Weeks 5 and 6 Recap

I am so sorry I missed posting last week. I'm a day late this week too, but better late than never, right? Thanks for the reminder, Nancy!

I was having some major exhaustion issues the week I skipped, along with trouble sleeping and just all over feeling unmotivated and yucky--huzzah for fibromyalgia. I did still manage to get my daily walks in everyday, so I'm happy about that, but otherwise the week was kind of a wash. I didn't do much around the house, I didn't do much around the yard, I just didn't do much at all.

One thing I did do, both last week and this week, was attend my weight watchers meeting, even though I hadn't been eating very well and hadn't lost a lot of weight. I'm pretty proud of myself for still going, I really didn't want to, especially this week. I did manage to lose both weeks, but only 0.2 pounds each week. This week I am feeling a lot better and back in control of my emotions and eating. I went grocery shopping at costco yesterday and stocked up on lots of veggies and fruit, mainly cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, and kiwi fruit. Those are great because they are very easy for me to snack on throughout the day.

I had my first PT appointment, it was interesting. She thinks some of my pain issues stem from a eye/brain/nervous system disconnect and wants me doing so eye focus exercises. I still need to get that set up here at home so I can do that once a day or so. I don't meet with her again until October 1st, then it will be every 3 weeks or so.

Pilates is going well and I had a session with a different instructor last week, as my regular instructor was sick with bronchitis. I really liked the new instructor as well, it was nice to get a different perspective on some of the exercises. My regular instructor, Jane, suggested maybe I would like to trade off and do a month with her, then a month with Juliana, and so on. Still need to reach out to Juliana and see what she thinks, but I like the idea.

I haven't been doing much as far as bodyweight exercises go yet, but I had the idea that I should do a set of 10 incline pushups at the kitchen sink every time I go in there to take one of my pills. That would be 3-5 times a day. I started implementing that today, so will keep you all posted. :)

Work has been okay, although last week ended up being awful. Friday was kind of slow (for a Friday) and Saturday was just a mess. I was supposed to be the first person off, usually getting done between 8:30-9:30, and was hoping to drive to Milwaukee after work to see a concert. Instead I came in to find out that the hostess and closing waitress had both called in sick, and the other waiter scheduled on was a no call, no show. That left me and one of the owner's daughters working the entire dining room alone on a Saturday night. I ended up forgetting one of my bar tables for a while during the end of the night--really ticking off a regular (which I apologized for, as it was totally my fault), and not getting home until 11:45 pm. Let's hope this weekend goes better. I have a super long day tomorrow. I'm working the bar from 10:30 am to 2:00 or so, then back at 3:30 to wait tables, probably until close, so around 11:30 pm.

Saturday we're hoping to drive over to Prairie du Chien to see the fella's aunt and uncle who live there--it's been quite a while since we've seen them. Sunday will be another work day, but just a regular one, knock on wood.

I did have a job interview on Monday, with the state of WI, which I should hear about early next week. Not expecting a lot from that, as they were interviewing a number of people and there is only one position, but figured it wouldn't hurt to at least interview. I also reached out to another job I applied for, with the UW extension program to see what their hiring timeline looks like. Hopefully I will get a response from them. I really need to step up my job hunt, savings reserves are definitely getting a bit low. No need to worry yet, but maybe in another few months, sigh.

Anyhow, that's all I've got for now and it feels like this is getting super long. Stayed tuned for another update sometime next week. Same bat time, same bat channel. At least, that's the plan.

    I have never heard of an eye/brain/nervous system disconnect? What is that?

    I am proud of you persevering in spite of the fibro, and not using it as an excuse to give up. Even if it is .2, it all adds up, right?

    I love the idea of push ups at the sink. With my busted collar bone I can't do regular, but those I can do.
    So proud that you are losing weight in spite of some set backs. That's how the weight came on, that is how we get it off. Slowly but slowly.

    That's good that there seems to be at least some sol'n to handle some of the pain! Hope that the eye exercises work for you.
