A little more of Paris and the Burgundy area. Absolutely gorgeous. Come walk with me!

Saturday, June 23, 2018

I loved Paris, but the area that was in the wine county in the Burgundy region was amazing. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the gorgeous little villages and the wide open fields of grapes as far as the eye can see, in addition to the castles and huge homes on the vineyard properties.
Please enjoy this virtual tour as I relive my time there!

We took the fast train from Paris to Dijon and it went about 300 mph and we were there in an hour and a half. It is truly amazing how smooth their system is, the train is clean and travels so smoothly, you would never know you are going that fast! Once we arrived in Dijon, we rented a car to go to our destination of the town of Beaune.

We stayed in a renovated house that was built in the early 1800's. It was absolutely gorgeous. If anyone is ever traveling to this area, please ask me for the name of the wonderful couple who rents this beautiful apartment, you will not be disappointed.

I loved the fields of poppies. So beautiful!

There were always roses at the end of many fields and we wondered if it was just for looks, well while talking to a sommelier(someone who studied wines) we found out they do this so that if something happens with the soil, the roses will start to die first and that would alert them that something was going on before it killed the grapevines. Very interesting!

The different wine areas in Burgundy. We found the Mazis area, which is our last name so that was very exciting for my husband.

These tractors trim the tops of the grapevines so the grapes will be able to get the sunshine and the nourishment instead of the leaves. They were out in force while we were there.

We did a couple of wine tasting's while in Beaune down in the caves that run almost the entire length of the city underground. These were perfect places to store wine as it matures.

And the castles, wow, here is one we toured.

I will end here and perhaps do one more blog about the rest of my vacation.
I hope you enjoyed the virtual tour, I am working hard at getting rid of few the pesky pounds I found while in France, but it was well worth it.
Until next time, keep sparking and thanks for stopping by!
