That same old food tracker (again)

Three years ago, I did a blog about my food tracker - Ode to My Food Tracker.

I still don't use the food tracker - as good as it is for me. I think it's because I hated having to stop at many times a day to fill it out to make sure I got my nutrition recorded for the day. I even tried adding my nutrition when I signed in every morning, but then forgot to add or subtract something during the day of there was a change. But the truth of the matter is....

The tracker is my friend. So I decided to start using it again. Well, I hemmed and hawned about starting today because frankly, I want to eat a chocolate cupcake tonight and I didn't want to have to record it. (That's a sure sign that I need to use the tracker emoticon ). So, I'm going to start using it again - but I'm giving myself a break and will try to use it every OTHER day, even if I have to record the chocolate cupcake emoticon, I'm upping my strength training, so I may as well give myself every advantage to lose those same 8+ pounds I've been trying to lose for the last ??? years.

Here's too doing better than before.

    I started using the food tracker since joining (three days) and enjoy planning all my meals around it the night before and seeing how nicely the numbers are adding up.. nutrient and calorie wise. What i don't like is adding stuff I didn't plan on eating and deleting what I had planned on eating by the day's end. The worse is seeing the total calories go from being within range with calories to spare... to going over and seeing all the junk and how much of it I ate. A rude awakening, to say the least. I'm going to need to follow my food plan AND make room for indulgences to make the tracker work for me.

    ps.. I like the 'copy foods' and creating 'food groups' to make tracking faster, since I eat the same foods most of the time.

    pss.. Thank You for your support and encouragement on 'half way to my step goal'. It means a lot to me.

    I started with just trying to get tracking 3x a week and found eventually I could do it! However, emoticon that it is HARD to keep having to log it in ~ and I don't do well with a pre-logged food tracker although I sometimes do it to save time. it does make a DIFFERENCE ,though ~ a -9.2 lbs. GONE difference to me in weight this Summer !!!!! emoticon

    It's interesting where we all have our battles. I have no trouble with the food tracker but husband was initially very reluctant to use it. We talked it over and that mental block seems about not wanting to be accountable to something else about his food (and he was only 40 pounds overweight and has already lost it with his male metabolism). I think it is the idea that something is judging you - but the food tracker is really for you and if you have it private no one else will see it.

    Great point about why maybe I don't like recording my food too! I'm back at it and while it seems monotonous, it's definitely good for us to do.
