Working on food issues

I read the Spark blog about sabotaging diet by overeating at night. I am one of those people. Medication I take upon waking decreases my appetite. I always eat breakfast, and either skip, eat snack or lunch too late. Skipping lunch leads to me eating everything in site at night even if I have afternoon snack. Eating lunch too late and I don't feel hungry at dinnertime and sometime skip it.
I have known for years that I have food issues. It started when I was school age. My mom worked full time and didn't make my lunch or give me money to buy lunch. So I grabbed cracker or went hungry until school was over. Then, I would eat from after school until bedtime. I was a student council member in high school, had lunch duty and skipped lunch. I grabbed a snack when I went home to change for work when I was high school junior. The pattern of skipping lunch and eating at night continued in adulthood due to working long hours. After marriage I was busy caring for family, house and working outside the home.
I gained a lot of weight after industrial injury and surgeries. Doctors insisting the weight gained was due to eating too much. Advice that continues to this day. One doctor ( a swimmer like me) instructed me to eat 1,000 calories daily.
I joined a gym a short time later. Exercising like other members and not losing weight led to me finding trainer/nutritionist. He asked me to keep a daily food log that he checked every two weeks. He already knew my exercise routine since it was logged on gym computer. He was the first to tell me I wasn't eating enough food daily to lose weight. He was very patient while it took a year for me to learn to eat three meals daily. I lost inches, not weight and felt better, but returned to my old way of eating when he left.
I log food but never make my daily calorie goal. I decided to make changes after reading celebrity's book about food issues. I eat three meals on work days, but struggle on gym days. My swim classes are from noon until 2 pm. I can't eat before swimming. So either I eat late lunch or snack after swimming. Then, I am not hungry at dinnertime, but starving and eat before bed. Saturday is another day I don't eat three meals since I sleep in and eat late breakfast.
I ate three meals yesterday since I swam early and there was food at knitting group. I need to continue this practice all week. I made lunch for gym tomorrow and plan to knit after dinner to keep me out of kitchen. It would feel great to be a few pounds lighter when my doctor weighs me in the beginning of July.
