Binge Eating Disorder Tips

I am not normal. I had binge eating disorder so bad that I gained 100 pounds, lost 100 pounds, and then gained 100+ pounds again within the course of less than four years. This was such a torturous miserable experience for me!! Eating disorders are not glamorous and I would not wish one on my worst enemy. I'm sure as you know dieting causes binge eating behaviour and if you have been dieting for a while, you may have found yourself having problems with binge eating/restrictive cycling behaviours and are looking for help, I thought I would post some advice here. Number one is stop dieting. You cannot stop binge eating if you don't stop dieting. Put weight loss on the back burner. This seems incredibly difficult and counterintuitive when you're in the midst of binge behaviour, but absolutely necessary if you want recovery. The next thing is I recommend reading Intuitive Eating and doing the Intuitive Eating workbook. Absolutely necessary to recovery!! Will totally transform your mentality. And third, I don't know what kind of treatment options are available in your area (there's almost nothing available for eating disorders here in Northern Wisconsin so depending on your area you might have to be really persistent in finding a psychiatrist and doctor that will treat you) but medical treatment is absolutely necessary!!!! I highly recommend seeing a psychiatrist and your primary doctor about your binge eating disorder. The course I was put on was the maximum dosage of Topamax 100mg half an hour before each meal and then I have psychotherapy and see a dietician. Please, if you have BED, see your doctors. It is very serious and it's okay to seek help. You don't have to do it on your own.
