A Few Bumpy Months...

Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Nothing too crazy to report really. Things were going smoothly into the start of December, and then the holiday craziness reared its head. Workouts were skipped, and habits were broken, but my eating stayed fairly on point through to the end of January. Results were mostly a loss of muscle mass, replaced by soft little pockets of fat here and there. Weight stayed the same around 190 until the end of February. As March began, I think my body reached a critical point where my muscle mass must have dropped too low, and my metabolism began to drag along. That, plus booze, equaled a spiral of weight gain, ending March around 198 and going from feeling sexy in my skin to feeling pretty flabby and bloaty. A few more pounds at the beginning of April was enough to finally kick start my engine, and I've had three solid weeks of workouts and hitting my macros, resulting in three pounds lost so far, and my face looking less bloaty. The body feels tighter and a touch slimmer, but I think it won't feel rockin' until I get back down to 190. I'm off to Cuba the last week of May, so I've got goals, baby, goals! :D

Also, it's a bummer how few people seem to use this site now like they used to five or six years ago. :*( I think I need to go try to build a new network of support here, seems too quiet.

Me at the end of February. 192 lbs. Filters make the world of difference though, lol

Hey you! Been such a long time--like years. emoticon I missed your messages (but they were the first I got to see on my page when I came back :) I can resonate with this blog....changes, regaining, and coming on spark to see the old crew gone! emoticon It is a loss,eh? I miss everyone! We all cheered each other through such vulnerable times. I wish I could tell the old spark family (1 more time ;) )just how impactful they were to me. I still rave about Sparkpeople even though I've been off--the support was a HUGE component of my journey. 100%!! I do get that there is a time and place for things...and sometimes we are too busy or sometimes we no longer need the same resources--the wonderful part of growth! :) I don't know if I will stay on here because I'm not sure i'm ready to open up to a new 'world' of spark lol (being honest)...but my name is not StrongCourage for nothing ;) So while I give it a go, I will hope you come back on! If not (& regardless!), I send positive vibes into the universe emoticon hoping you are well and pursuing your dreams! emoticon emoticon :)

Thanks for sharing your real-feel thoughts, definitely is an invitation to authentic writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Awesome work getting back to it. It's funny how quickly some habits can fade with the right amount of distraction. I agree with you about this site now. I've noticed not as much activity and blogs on my friend feed. I did step away for a while so guessing maybe others have done the same or unfriended me LOL. Life, yo! Vacations are really good motivators. It's my driving force at the moment. When someone says ice cream I say beach HA!

Happy to hear that you've experienced three solid weeks of workouts and hitting the macros. Keep up the good work and, baby, you'll be rockin' those goals! Enjoy your visit to Cuba!

The addition of the mobile app and the community wall has seriously reduced team activity. The participants in the maintenance challenges have dropped off by 20 - 30 members. Pretty staggering! It's a reduction in participation of roughly 30% - 35%.
