healthy habits rewards - third 300 points (what a struggle!)

My goal for 2018 is developing healthy routines that make me feel beautiful and strong.
Each month, I pick a keystone habit that I work on for the month. A keystone habit is one that is correlated with other good habits. So for example, developing an exercise habit can then lead you to drink more water, eat healthier, wake up earlier, etc. I felt really convicted about the power of this from the amazing book Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. I highly recommend this book! It is life changing.
I started off strong in January (building a morning routine) and February (building an evening routine). For every component of the routine that I hit, I gave myself a point. I get a reward for every 100 points..
Then March hit, and I FELL FLAT ON MY FACE!
Following my morning & evening routines have been a struggle. It started with a wonderful sweets-filled vacation in Jamaica that I did not recover from, then skipping yoga, then not tracking consistently. I wore a pair of work pants today that felt snug, and had my aha moment. I'm on the slippery slope back to old bad habits.
All is not lost, because there's a component of my evening routine that I have been following religiously (giving my skin some daily TLC - wash, toner, serum, moisturizer). I'm glad that I have maintained this small 5 min self-care routine, and I'm slowly going to re-build using this momentum.
So my keystone habit for April is:
- Keep my daily skincare routine as a loving act of self-care
- Drink 5 cups of water minimum
- Daily nutrition tracking
These are small steps, but I'm going to fight the urge to do drastic unsustainable things. Wish me good luck!
