No Sugar/Flour - Day #26 - Spring 5% Challenge Begins today!!

Happy Saturday, boy it's a brisk one out there today. I just returned from a 40-minute walk with my pal, Lacy Jean. She's going to be 10 this June and needs the fitness just as much as I do. Can't believe she has snow flakes on her face, it is April 7th, right?


I've continued with the Bright Line Eating principles of No sugar, No Flour or anything made with those refined products, NO processed/packaged foods and three equally spaced meals a day, closing the kitchen at night by 6:30pm and then a "fast" until the next day at 7:30am.

It's going great! I feel so much better and am craving nothing at all. I was a little disappointed this morning to see just a 1/2-lb loss this week, when I adhered to the principles 100%, but I know consistency will pay off in the end.

Today is also the first day of the Spring 5% Challenge, and I've joined a great group for some fun and accountability as I pursue these healthy changes. I'm looking forward to the coming weeks!!

My DS#1 is here visiting this week from Hawaii. He entered the US Navy after college and after 10 years of service is looking at graduate schools. He absolutely nailed the GMAT with a score of 760, super proud of him, and is visiting the top business schools. He has been networking like crazy, in touch with the various veterans groups on campus and has audited four classes and had various other meetings at Harvard Business School this week. They teach using the Case Method and it's been fascinating dinnertime conversation. Next week he's got a couple meetings/classes at MIT and then drives down to UPenn to visit Wharton. From there, it's on to Chicago and he'll wrap up out west at Stanford. They say an MBA from one of the top ten schools can really make a difference, so he is pursuing this path. Combined with his Navy career, he should be good to go! VERY proud Navy Mom right here!

The poor guy must be freezing though. We had snow yesterday. Our world turned white once again, grass, deck, trees etc, and flurries earlier today but it's largely melted already. Thank goodness. We went out to visit him and his fiancé this past September in Hawaii so know first hand now exactly what he left behind four days ago!!

    What an adorable doggy face! Congratulations on meeting your eating goals, you are doing awesome, may the pesky scale start reflecting that to you sooner too. I'm finding that I often lose inches the weeks the scale is stubborn, are you tracking those for yourself too? Congrats to your son (and rightfully proud parents!).

    My niece lives in Hawaii and when she visits she is always cold! Sorry you are having such cold weather, it is pretty cold here in WV today. We didn't get the snow we were suppose to today thank goodness. Bravo for that walk you and Lacy Jean took in the brrrrr! Thank your son for his service, I would be proud too!

    Yes, don't worry about a low weight loss this week. Consistency will pay off. There are so many factors that can affect your weight on any given day. How much salt yesterday? What is going on in your gut? Etc. Overall the trend will be down. We have the saying JFTFP. Just follow the *adjective* plan. It has really worked for me. Just before my recent cruise I had just reached the top of my goal weight range. Today I am back at that top. Soon I will be adding some food to my daily plan, but nothing else really changes when you reach goal. So there is no big hurry. (:
