Using sparkpeople to vent frustrations instead of EATING them...

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

This past weekend was rough. A family member who I've always viewed as strong, tough & a sturdy individual is now showing signs of aging, fragility, & ill health. It was apparent when I saw him Sunday that medication he has been taking is overpowering him, both in mind & body. Add to that some statements he made have me so frustrated, since he seems to be his worst enemy. I gave up with suggestions & tried to listen intently to the complaints as we shared a meal together. When I heard that alcohol was involved to numb the pain, (from his girlfriend) I was ready to lose it!!!

I came home & stared at the pantry. Then I remembered the supportive buddies I have at this site. Instead of filling my belly, i filled the page of my team post...I know my sparkies forgave the negativity of my rant...

One posted some fab photos of her new puppies...that put the smile on my face...I then remembered the blessing of meeting an ARTIST in my family who lives in Thailand & was here for a visit...

Please enjoy the special memento he made for me

Glad you vent instead of eat...
that is what we are here for....
    You are doing great ...
Sometimes in life we can not put our knowledge onto others ---they just are not going to listen..
so you must step back and just listen ---then come home and vent to us ..

    so sorry emoticon

but so glad you also put a positive motivation in sight ... always go to the happiness
    love the picture ---enjoy

Have a family member acting the same way - I have made the difficult decision to step back and let him deal by himself, although I still will comment on occasion when behavior gets too rough to accept (I can't allow any further stress on myself).......

First of all, glad you chose to vent. Better the emotions are expressed than bottled up!

    That memento is absolutely gorgeous!
