healthy habits rewards - second 100 points (200!)

Sunday, February 11, 2018

My goal for 2018 is developing healthy routines that make me feel beautiful and strong.

Each month, I pick a keystone habit that I work on for the month. A keystone habit is one that is correlated with other good habits. So for example, developing an exercise habit can then lead you to drink more water, eat healthier, wake up earlier, etc. I felt really convicted about the power of this from the amazing book Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. I highly recommend this book! It is life changing.

For the month of January, my goal was to develop a weekday morning routine. I have a hectic job, and want to go into work feeling calm, centered and ready to take on the day.

Overall I met this goal about 85% of the time SO my goal for February was:

- Keep up the morning routine + add an evening routine.

The evening habit loop that I'm adding on is

Pack lunch for next day --> Lay out clothes for next day ---> Brush teeth/floss --> Wash face --> Journal --> Asleep before 10.

For now, as I'm trying to lay out the habits, every healthy action gets me 1 point. After 100 points I get a reward.

I hit 200 points today emoticon emoticon and my reward is going to be to take a pilates class + get a cute workout sleeveless tee from the gym (both will be free, from my gym!)

Excited to keep these habits going! Feeling great!

This is a great way to develop good habits. I'm keeping this in mind especially when it comes to meeting my exercise time goals.

I am working on morning and evening routines, too. I love your plan to work on one new habit a month. emoticon
