Tracking Again

Saturday, February 03, 2018

I’ve been Sparking since May 2012. In the first six months I lost 40 pounds. I’ve spent the remainder of that time gaining 32 pounds back. What happened? Among other things, I stopped tracking. I’m on Day 2 of tracking now. I’ll have to see how it goes. I hate tracking so much that it becomes a great motivator for not overindulging.

Tracking works, but I agree, it is no fun whatsoever. I do think about calorie counts when I know I have to list it all on the tracker. If not tracking, I can easily go overboard. You can do it!

Good for you! I tracked and lost, too. I just got sick of it, and then stopped. But you're right, it doesn't at least keep us honest. Maybe you'll inspire me, too. Good luck!

You are not alone. I have been on SP off and on since 2007. It empowered me with the tools and knowledge I needed to lose over 100lbs. Over the past 5 years gained all but 35lbs. back. Tracking is burdensome...but it works. Stay committed....you got this!

When I have a task that I don't really love, I tell myself that I do love it. Then I start to find reasons why I love it. For instance, I love tracking meals because it:

Raises my awareness of what I am eating.
Gives me the power and knowledge to control my eating and weight.
Teaches me what the actual calories are of what I am eating.
Encourages me to control my portions.
Inspires my cooking and meal planning.
Helps me keep my food costs down.

    Good luck with your journey!

Keep on ‘Sparkling’. I too recently started exercising again AND watching everything I eat. It really does make a big difference. Like you, I gained weight back and I hated tracking, but that too really helps! Keep at it, you can do it. 🌸💖🌼

Once you start tracking on a regular basis it becomes habit. You've got this!

I agree that tracking is a burden. On the other hand, it helps locate the biggest contributors to our weight gain. That little pat of butter, the two cookies, and the innocent salad dressing!

Well, you definitely AREN'T wrong. Tracking does suck!!! I am on my 3rd month and have many days where I don’t feel like tracking my food... then I have guilt & carry on. It does bring it to mind. If I can do it... you will ROCK it, LOL :)
