I CAN Overcome This Problem

Friday, January 19, 2018

I am newly arrived to the world of weight maintenance. I have a "drop" foot incurred during a very recent surgery. The surgery was abdominal, but a nerve to my leg/foot got touched somewhere in the process. I am slowly recovering my energy levels. A drop foot means I cannot walk/run in heel/toe fashion. My foot flops. I read a blog from the "At Goal & Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance" Spark Team which elaborated the challenges of maintaining. The comments were super enlightening. The general opinion was that maintaining was tougher than losing weight.

I dearly want to maintain the "new me" who is 40 pounds lighter. I thought, "What CAN I do with this foot problem? I can do spinning classes for aerobics and recovery!" I've never spun before, nary a twirl. I CAN do this much for my aerobics now. I CAN do this and I CAN recover. What else CAN I do? Stay tuned.

Congratulations on reaching your goal weight.
Luckily there are many activities out there which will let you work around your ailment.
Keep a close eye on your food, that's usually where maintenance goes awry.
    Best wishes!

Your CAN do attitude will serve you well. Love that you're focusing on what you can do.

I agree with ROSEWAND ... keep doing what you did to lose the 40 pounds ... and do what you can do now given the current situation with your foot.

    Do keep us posted.

For successful maintenance, the best advice is just keep doing what you did
to lose the 40 pounds. That's it. Sure you can carefully add a few calories
back slowly and carefully until your weight stablizes. Otherwise accept that this is
    your lifestyle going forward. emoticon

I have not found maintenance harder just longer LOL emoticon
And staying with Spark really helps to keep you focused. emoticon
