Making 2018 the best it can be

Friday, December 29, 2017

With too much time away from Sparking, eating healthy and regular exercise, I am making a commitment to getting back on right track.

After a scare with high blood pressure, and not wanting to continue on prescribed medicine, Mike researched natural ways to bring the numbers down to a normal range. He has done an amazing job, and his numbers are in the normal range (he checks his blood pressure a couple times a day now). Together, we are working on meal plans, exercise we can do together, and growing more of our own vegetables.

We planted a garden last year but the deer ate most of it. Plans are underway to secure the perimeters better. We also plan on a few smaller garden plots closer to the house. With all the deer tracks we are seeing in the snow, those too will need secure fencing.

One of my Spark Friends PCOH051610 has come up with her own plan for the new year. I like that idea, and have jotted down a few goals for myself (and, yes, I am coping some of her goals):
1. Plan ahead ā€“ both meals and exercise.
2. Get back to walking daily.
3. Eat more veggies ā€“ bring them to work to snack on.
4. Read more.
5. Spend more quality time with Mike and my sons.
6. Take at least one long trip to visit relatives and friends.
7. Get more massages.
8. Work on my mental health.
9. Get my house organized
10. Laugh more and worry less.

My wish for all of you is that 2018 brings you happiness, good health and new adventures!

    Great to have you back!
You will have to share all the things Mike found for natural remedies.
I am all about that. Hubby needs to watch his blood pressure also but
isn't taking it as serious as I would like him too.
Looking forward to our Minnesota Spring to get out in the garden also.
    Hugs,
    Dee

Good habits add up, so don't worry about how much/little you're tackling. Consistency is the key and manageability means you'll stick to it!

So good to see you back! I love being connected here on SP. I'm meeting likeminded people from all over the world, and I find it to be a marvelous experience.

Yay for Mike! Takes determination! Good for you to have a partner in crime :)

I like your goal list. There is so much more to wellbeing than counting calories.

Here is to a successful, happy, and healthy 2018!

So nice that you have a partner to share a healthy lifestyle with!!! Makes things a lot easier and also makes you accountable for your actions... Good & bad! My husband eats what he wants any time of the day or night and it kills me! He has high blood pressure but doesn't seem to want to make changes. So I go this alone. Its fine, just would be nice to get yelled at if I head into the snack cupboard at night rather than asked what I can bring for him also, lol.
Also excellent pre planning for your successful year ahead! I am going to make a list of my own tonight... instead of snacking ;)
