12 week Achilles Rehab
Sunday, November 05, 2017
I have decided to deal with my achilles issues. I am still working out on the Peloton (Did I tell y'all about that?) For the next 12 weeks (12 weeks because that's apparently how long it takes to heal/strengthen them), I will do about 180 calf exercises a day. My end goal is to end up with strong enough achilles tendons that I can start running again. Can you believe I actually miss running?
Well if you've been following me for a while, you'd remember I ran 2 marathons (26.2 miles), 3 half-marathons (13.1 miles), and lots of other 10K/5K races but now... it's been a long time since I've been able to run a long race.
My ankles hurt walking up the stairs, after sitting, after sleeping, etc. I started wearing a night splint 2 nights ago to help stretch my ankle passively while I'm sleeping. I also have Sciatica and tight performs syndrome that I'm working on. I took myself to get a massage yesterday and JOINED the club to commit to a massage every month. Basically, I'm tired of being in pain all the time and need to get back in tiptop shape.
I'm ending the year with a focus on SELF CARE! What are you end of year goals??
