This is Crazy!

Yesterday’s personal log: “Hiked up into Red Rock Canyon Calico Basin. Lot of fun. Challenged on balance and footing in the rocky/big rocks part of the trail. My Fitbit, 8000 steps, climbed “39 floors.” End of day. 14.5k steps. Goals met for sure! Future rocky hiking requires lightweight hiking shoe (ankle support) and a hiking stick and water and lighter weight with better torso and upper body strength (flexibility would be good also).”
When I look at this, I think “This is crazy!” Who is this guy who 6 months ago weighed 30 pounds more and had no wind? This crazy guy is thinking about being better at “future rock hiking”? Better muscle, upper body, torso, flexibility? How can he think this?!
That’s exactly who I am; a 76-year-old who wants to hike longer, higher and stronger. One who wants to maximize what I have left in the tank at 76. Pretty crazy, huh?
