Starting Over

I joined the SparkPeople community in September of 2012. I was active on this site and attended OA meetings. I was able to release 65 pounds from my body over a 18 month period. I started at 202 pounds and got down to 137 pounds. I was still considered overweight by the BMI charts since I am a short woman (4 feet 11 inches). But I felt good at that weight and I was also actively strength training. Unfortunately, I have reclaimed those 65 pounds within the last year and a half. What happened? Life.....I just didn't handle it well. A 2014 car accident put a stop to strength training for a long time. I experienced some rough patches in my marriage. I was reeling from not having a fulfilling job. Last year when I turned 40, I went into a deep depression about not having any kids. I had been married 16 years at the time and my husband just wasn't willing to compromise in that area. I thought I was "okay" with it, but I was blind-sided with so much emotion, anger, and disappointment. The self-destructive behavior just snowballed! I went back to what was natural.....trying to eat away my emotions.

So, I am here today to start over. I weighed in at 202 pounds this morning. I know what to do, I just need to commit to doing it. I will be starting slow. One of my first goals is to create a 10 minutes a day exercise streak. After about 30 days, I plan to focus on eating more vegetables and fruit. I just don't consume enough on a daily basis. I am confident that I will get to feeling better once I start moving more and eating better.

    You have been through so much. A little time has passed since you wrote this blog. I hope you have found your way back. Spark is a great place to be on this journey. Sometimes when we need it most, we stay away because we aren't going in the direction we know we should. We are pulling for you.

    You can do this!!! Take it in baby steps - all along the way. First start out slow & see how each day goes. Maybe do one change at a time for a few weeks, then move forward. I am here for you all the time! emoticon emoticon
