So what did Barb do this weekend? Well... Saturday it was housework. Yuck. I hate doing housework. I'd so rather be outside! However I got up and started on that laundry and cleaning the bathrooms. I noticed the kitchen floor really looked like it could use a deep cleaning - not just running that Swiffer around the middle of the room! As I made trips from upstairs to downstairs over and over again putting things back in their right places I spied the girts I had purchased for our women's retreat. They needed to be wrapped - sooooo - it was off to the dollar store to get some gift bags and then wrapping presents. While stopping for a minute to eat lunch I got on facebook - only to notice that several of my friends were having a picnic - which I wanted to go to - but didn't want to go to because I was afraid I'd be tempted by the food! I decided to let the housework wait and hit the picnic. Luckily the food was pretty much gone when I got there and I wasn't really hungry because I ate my healthy lunch at home - but I got to hang with everyone outdoors for a couple hours which was nice.
I stopped by the store and picked up some chicken. When I got home, I started a pot of chicken veggie soup to have for lunches this week. I was just tossing veggies in the pot. I had a head of cabbage left from my trip to the market - so much of that went in the soup! We will see how it tastes today when I have lunch! While the soup was simmering, I walked the dog for an hour.
Sunday was my son's surprise birthday party. I had a light brunch - knowing the day was going to include cake and ice cream! The party was great. He was so surprised he had tears in his eyes and was hugging everyone! Much to my surprise, it was him, his house mom, his roommates, some of his roommates family, other friends who help out at his house and my daughter's family and me! I thought it was just going to be his roommates and us - so I bought a large layer cake. Funny how karma works..... I HAD to cut those pieces of cake small for everyone to get some! No real exercise on Sunday - so that was a downfall.
Today I got on the scale for my first weigh in. 214.2 - down 5.8 pounds for the first week! I know much of that is water weight but I must say I was so happy to see that number.
Looking back - it was a pretty good week. My nutritional values/calories were in range every day - but on the high end Thursday and Sunday. This week my focus is to get in more exercise and of course to stay on track with the food.
