"You'll be the death of me yet!"
My Mom used to say that to all 5 of us , all my sisters and brothers, and myself-
You see, I came from a large family---
We are not close at all nowadays--- Strange eh?
--because my 5 children are very close--
I can't imagine not having so many children, altho all my children, each, to-day, only have 2 children.
We are fortunate to have 3 of our children living here in this town---
Yesterday, when I was looking at the front lawn , thinking that the grass was about to get the best of me, in drove son#3, the Policeman, with his 2 girls heading to the dock-He jumped on the riding mower and cut both the front and the back lawn-
"I stopped a guy in the ride program, Mom", he said, "who had just picked blueberries and is selling them for a good price. You want a basket?"---
Lord love a Duck---Of course I did!----
Then there is son#4, who enjoys working with wood--is very good too---who built our sunroom--(for $$$$-nothing is free)
-And son #2, the Air Canada Pilot, offers us free tickets for parents anywhere----if there are seats open----(always a catch--plus we don't travel much!)-
And son#1 with his restaurant---and our only daughter married to an ortho surgeon offers good advice---
With all the kids help these days, I still do thank the good Lord that we stopped at 5 children---
It was a lot of bikes, walkmans--expensive running shoes, never enough money as they went through University---praying they survived the "drinking years"- (and they did!)---many trips to Florida where my Mom and Dad lived, in a station wagon, in the winters---(could not afford to fly)-with a cooler for meals--
I watch them all now, together , and I know I would have a large family again---
Do I tell my kids that?
It's best to bite my tongue---
Himself and I only have half a tongue--Remember?--
All Grandparents do!
