Slow and Steady

Today I took a look back at my progress over the last 103 days. What I learned is that the first month I lost quite quickly, then the next 2 months I lost 2 pounds a month. This is probably a very slow pace for most people. But because I have a lifetime of yoyo dieting, I am trying to learn how to do this all differently. I want to make sure that the changes I make are going to stay with me for the rest of my life.
This month I have been learning how to balance allowing myself enough calories to not feel deprived, but cutting enough to keep losing or at least not gain. I think this is important to learn because eventually I will reach goal weight and want to easily maintain without struggling. I am also trying to learn how to allow myself to eat certain foods in moderation without ending up binging. My old way used to be to just not have the food in the house. Clearly this never worked because eventually I would give up.
As I move into July I am looking forward to adding more movement and increasing the weight on my barbells. These are small changes that I feel my body is ready to adjust to. This month I have been getting my 10K steps in pretty consistently and if feels like I am ready to change this up a bit.
So in the beauty that is our nature and natural, I look to my own changes as being slow and steady. This allows me to enjoy the journey and be able to stop and smell the roses while never giving up.
