Do you hear me now?

Do you hear me now?

I often tell (accuse) my husband of not listening to me. His response is always the same: I speak softly and he does not “hear” me. This leads to my raising my voice and loudly telling him, again, what I previously said.

This morning I realized that I have not been listening to me. And, my body has raised its’ voice and is loudly telling me, again, what it has been saying over and over: too much, too soon.

I am now four weeks since the last surgery. Having gone through this before, I know physical limitations are part of the healing process. Increasing my range of motion takes time and pushing myself to go faster is not a good thing. Increasing my cardio is one thing I have found that helps me to stay sane. However, this time my body is saying “no” to the cardio. So, I am back to more restrictions: walk, but no cardio – don’t do anything that will make your body sweat.

My body has spoken (so has my doctor). And, I will listen. It is a temporary setback; one that I will recover from. Time to focus my energy on other aspects of this journey to a healthier me.

Two steps forward, one step back.

I really liked this BLOG; I tend to do too much or do no exercise at all. You do the right thing listening to your inner voice. Thank you. In the meantime you are well healed and complete after your surgery, I am sure! Take care and have a great time

Great post and so true. We have to listen to our bodies. Best to listen when they whisper because when they scream we are forced to and it isn't pleasant. Wish you happy healing!
