Wait, what?

All right. I'm not complaining. I'm honestly sharing to help people see.

2 days (TWO DAYS) ago I posted about how my scale probably moved no more than a pound in a MONTH and I finally broke through to the next blip (tens) on my scale. I had been thrilled with that breakthrough, and yet, today, I was going to weigh myself again.

Why? Who knows. I told myself no, because I honestly didn't want to weigh myself until after I get back from vacation (leaving in 1 week) because I don't want to go through another month of frustration. I'm fine with the scale moving slowly to a point. I get frustrated, that is why I usually don't weigh myself often.

Then, for some reason, I got on the scale ANYWAY. 3 more pounds down. WHAT?

THIS is what everyone struggles with with weight loss. The fact that even though it should be simple math, it isn't simple. It can be hard, it can be random, and you never know what is going on.

I'm not telling you this to brag on this sudden loss, but to tell you that we ALL get frustrated. I was frustrated for a month. Then weird. We do not know what our body might do or how it will respond, but we could be 2 days from it making the progress we needed to see.

One thing that I have started saying to myself every time I get frustrated is this. "Weight loss is eating right and exercising. That will get you healthier, that is the ONLY thing that will help you lose. YOU ARE ALREADY DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO LOSE WEIGHT. It will come off." And the thing is, it is true.

I'm really doing this for my health this time. I don't want to be fat, OBVIOUSLY. But I don't want to die. I don't want to have a heart attack. I want to see my daughter grow and thrive. It is such a precious gift. I will do anything possible to be healthy. That is eating healthy and exercising and being active. If I never lost another pound I might be a little bummed, but it would be OKAY. I would be healthy.

When you get frustrated and want to quit. Tell yourself that your next breakthrough could be tomorrow. It could be in two days. But if you give up, it might be never. KEEP GOING.

You are doing well. It is the consistency both in intake and exercise. Eventually it pays off ( or weighs off LOL) Just have to be patient/.

Thanks for sharing! It is amazing how things can be slow, or non-existent for a while, and then sudden change/results. We never know what's around the corner and in the meantime we are improving our health.

Never fear the plateau. In fact I call it "Mini Maintenance" - your body's way of preparing itself for the ultimate plateau - maintenance which is what we all strive for.

In fact, that was the title of my blog back on May 26th.

Congratulations on the loss. Stick with the program. Have patience and persistence and you will be successful.

that right there is why I am a daily weigher. After doing this for YEARS now, I know my patterns so when the scale is up, I know exactly why and I don't over stress about it. Is the pattern perfect? No, there are certainly anomalies, but it definitely helps see that number as data as opposed to self worth! :D

Congrats on the loss!!! For me it really is painfully slow. We're talking a pound every few months slow and I just have to let go of thinking a bigger loss is right around the corner. I am enjoying leading a healthy lifestyle. I am doing everything I can to maintain my health. My measurements have improved. My stamina for exercise has gone up. The scale for me is like the ever critical boss where I have to have it in my life and I need to strive to keep working hard, but the reinforcement will be little and hard to come by. When it does happen I need to just savor that tiny little bit.

Remember Spark friend, You are not defined by your weight or a number on the scale. Look for non-scale victories. I used to weigh every morning, had to stop that because of the frustration. emoticon
