Writing Intentions Helps
Thursday, June 15, 2017
It was so good that I wrote down my intention to go to the medical fitness center Tuesday evening because, even though I was really tired after teaching and my hip was more painful than it's ever been, I managed to get there. It was also good because "my" trainer was there and, even though it's not one-on-one, she often came over to show me how to do a certain movement correctly. I hadn't been doing some of them right on Sunday because I couldn't tell just exactly what to do from the photos on my individualized workout list.
I kept thinking to myself, my police cadet students would find these laughable. I mean, just lying on the floor and stretching an arm from one side to the other - who can't do that? But I could really feel it. I also need to be patient, knowing that doing the workout will make a difference in time if I go regularly.
The next time is Saturday. Usually it would be Thursday evening, but that's going to be the height of the Hokkaido Shrine Festival in my neighborhood with the subway station unbearably crowded.
Oh, and the new headphones worked. It was funny because I could lip read what my trainer was saying. One workout session is about the length of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, conducted by Neville Marriner, playing opera!
