I crashed into our garage door--

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

I crashed through the garage door last evening--
--broke the door--
I am waiting for a repairman to come out here--assess the damage----and see when he can install 2 new garage doors-Its a double garage--
Ask me if I'm upset----Lord love a Duck! I feel ;like an idiot---

You see, I wasn't driving our own vehicle---I was driving a "loaner" from the car dealer---
It did NOT have the rear view camera on it----no excuse though---
I shudda opened the garage door --BEFORE---getting into the car--
How stupid is all this?
How stupid am I?

We did get to the Birthday party however, thanks to a neighbour who helped tie up the broken door---

I also took my homemade banana bread to the Grand Daughter---

So there goes mega mucho dollaros AGAIN!
Poor Himself eh?--He will be over 200 years old soon and he will never be able to stop working!

I'm glad you made it to the party. Don't feel bad about the garage door. Stuff happens. I recently came home from the library and, in my attempt to get as far over in the garage as possible, I hit the passenger side mirror on my car. I backed the car up to more over and hit it again. Then I repeated the whole thing one more time. I don't even have words.

Like I tell my Granddaughter, accidents happen. Glad you were not hurt, material things can be replaced. You might want to check online, we replaced our double garage doors a couple of years ago (they were old, not working).
So glad you got the banana bread made and made it to the birthday party. Looks like you all had a good time.
    Happy Birthday to the Granddaughter!!

Things happen. It was a mistake. You didn't do it on purpose. Would you call your friend stupid and an idiot if they did the same thing? Treat yourself the same way you would treat a friend. Glad you made it to the birthday party with the banana bread. I'm sure it was appreciated.

At least you didn't damage the vehicle! That's what happened when I did the same thing, so don't feel like you are alone. It appears from the comments, similar accidents have happened to many members, so know that we all feel like you do now. Most of can look back & at least smile at the event, so you may be able to do likewise in the future.

First of all, no mention of injury to you, so thank goodness for that. Then you are not stupid, we all have accidents, which happen. We just think why did I not open the garage door? Answer--we usually are in a hurry or forget the door is closed---then we end up with a bill for repairs.

The stuff of Life! Something always lurking to trip us up. Darn it anyway. I've been putting off fixing our garage door, only one side with opener and it came off the track.

Accidents are unplanned, unintentional, everyone has had at least one. Having one does not make you stupid. Look at it this way. If you can get the two doors how nice that will be. Something you may have wanted, but could not justify getting.

Did that years ago while renting my Mom and Dad's house after he retired. Kicking myself that I didn't just go and buy one right off the bat (would have been better off and paid off a few years ago). I know he wasn't impressed not any real damage but the old man insisted upon changing the whole thing ( the guy that came out said it could have been mended with just a panel). I can recall fixing my own DOUBLE WIDE door (there's NO JOY LIKE TRYING PUT IT UP AND HAVING THE @$#($)@@!!! THING COME OFF AND LAND ON THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD!!!! I can still feel it 8 years later).

Sounds like a stunt ANY of us could pull... a little distraction, a little inattention (did I ever mention stripping my rearview mirror with the side of the garage once upon a time)?

Ah, but there is one brights spot...
as long as Himself needs to work... has a job... and goes there to work...
you get to be home alone with the fur babies unsupervised for a little bit !!

See.. no great loss without some small gain.
(that's what my gramma was want to say)

Smile, things hurt less when you smile.

I don't have a garage thank goodness. I am always leery when I have to back out of a parking place. I must look back a thousand times. I have learned the hard way. Just laugh about it and go on. Hugs

You know what they say "Shoulda Coulda Didn't". We all make mistakes from time to time. Stop beating yourself up over it. Hope you enjoyed the party and your family. That's the important thing in life. Everything usually falls into place.

It's easy to look back and wish we'd done things differently. (I speak from experience.) I've found the best thing to do is learn, move on and not keep reliving it. Life is too short.

It's easy enough to get distracted particularly whilst driving an unfamiliar vehicle. Garage doors can be fixed.

We spent around 3 hours last night at the emergency Vets. Our almost 17 year old dachshund Levi started bleeding profusely from the mouth. We know he has bad teeth but our regular Vet thinks he's too old to put him under to pull them. He wants to just keep him on antibiotics the rest of his life. Anyway, the emergency Vets got the bleeding stopped and did all kinds of blood work just to make sure it was his teeth and $500 later and at 2 AM we're back home. Poor dog! He's deaf and blind and then we give him drugs (he had to be sedated because he wasn't cooperating). He spent the rest of the night whining and wimpering and I was up every few minutes to comfort him. My job now is to convince our dentist that it's worth the risk to pull these teeth. It's either that or cough up the big bucks to take him to the doggie dentist in the ritzy part of town. Lord Love a Duck indeed!

Whoops, but check out out the dictionary -

    ac·ci·dent
    /ˈaksədənt/R>noun
    1. an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.

    Note "unexpectedly" and "unintentionally"

And other accidents will probably happen because they just do. And yup we'll continue to get upset with ourselves - that's life!!!
