Muscle vs. Fat
Wednesday, May 10, 2017
I play roller derby. I play hard and I work hard outside of practice. Unless I'm injured...which I currently am...and it sucks...kind of.
I'm not one for taking time to make myself recover or rest. This injury I decided to take a full leave of absence and focus on recovery from the injury and strength training outside of that.
I've been lifting weights and realizing I'm stronger than I knew. I tested my limits yesterday and hit a personal record of 175lbs for deadlifts and 165lbs for squats.
The thing that gets to me is the way muscle sits on the body vs the way fat does. The scale doesn't move. The clothes are actually tighter because of building muscle. So nothing makes sense other than the way my body looks in the mirror. It's really frustrating.
What have you discovered as you built muscle in your weight loss journey?
