Another hike in France and the cliffs of Etretat- Part 2

Saturday, April 15, 2017

On Sunday during my visit to ClaireinParis we decided to go to the seaside as it was going to be a very warm day and we would enjoy this view during lunch and then go for a 3 hour hike. Claire has a wonderful sense of direction so hiking with her is always a fun time, and this hike was simply amazing. However, the cliffs certainly provided a tough workout and if you have any issues with heights, this may be very tough! Please walk along with us as we enjoyed a marvelous day!

This was our view as we sat and had a lovely lunch. Claire had mussels which I had never had before and I tried a few of hers and discovered they were delicious! I will order them again here in the US and see how they compare. I am afraid that they will never measure up since you must have this view to truly enjoy them!

A view of the cute little village that the cliffs surround.

After lunch, we drove for about an hour to get to our starting point which was here at this beautiful little church.

The first part of the hike was through fields. The soil is so rich looking and the crops planted were so beautiful. The canola fields were just amazing. Yellow as far as the eye can see!

This was the first of several big hills that we had to go down. This was a challenge as the steps were not were really easy in the sense that it almost went straight down and there wasn't anything to hang on to as there was barbed wire on both sides, oh goodness! And once you go down, you must climb back up on the other side!

The views were absolutely amazing and stunning!

The homes were just beautiful!

And the bluebells, wow.

And what is a walk in France without at least 1 castle!

The hike ended with a beautiful sunset behind us and the moon rising in front of us. We did get lost once and had to backtrack, but no hike is complete unless you get lost at least once if not twice.
This hike had everything. Hills, cliffs, fields, chickens and roosters, woods, fields, the sea! It was wonderful. The last portion of the hike had been removed I think because there was a new development that had been built so that was a real challenge going through the fields of canola and the nettles were very sharp and I had capris on.
But the rest of the hike was everything I was hoping for!
Claire is such a great guide though and we had the most gorgeous day for the hike.
Thanks for walking along with me. I hope you enjoyed the views. I know that I did!
