I had my foot surgery done yesterday! I was in the hospital for about five and a half hours two and half of that was check in and then waiting on the doctor to arrive. An hour was the surgery and then an hour and half in recovery and getting ready to go home. The surgery was a great success! According to the doctor, I have about seventy to seventy-five percent more motion in my big toe, the bone spurs are gone and the screws to hold the break are in place. I receive a nerve block which numbed me from halfway down my calf to the tips of my toes. It is just now beginning to wear off *itchy*! The pain is there but it's not as bad as I had imagined it might be, so far anyway! I put ice packs on for ten to fifteen minutes then off for the same amount and then back on to help with the swelling. In conjunction with keeping my foot elevated, this seems to be doing a good job!
I found out that they broke the toe lower down than I thought they were going to so showering may be possible after week one!! I am very excited about that!! I can get a plastic bootie to go over my bandages at my end of week one appointment and then come home and take a nice long shower instead of having to wait until after week two!!
I weighed before I had my surgery and I have lost another 2.5 lbs!!
I want to thank all my Spark friends for their support and prayers! It means the world to me! I went in there knowing that the Lord had my back and I was not afraid nor even nervous and that was *before* they gave me the feel good juice!
