Week #1 (And yet again)

Monday, March 06, 2017

Well, here I am again for what seems like the millionth time. (I am sure I have said that before too.) Seems like the same time every year I am back at the whole gotta eat healthy gotta lose some weight thing.

Well, this year HAS to be different. This time HAS to be different. I recently went to the Dr for an issue I had been having for awhile. Long story short, my previous PCP has moved away & in order to establish care with my new one, she had to do a physical. Ok, no big deal right? For the most part. Everything was pretty ok, except my A1C. I am pre-diabetic. Not something that really surprised me though. She has prescribed me with metformin & encouragement to start changing my diet & exercising more. Reality check!

Since starting my pill a week ago, I have managed to get over the initial headaches that seem to be a common side effect while your body adjusts. I have also noticed that I seem to be hungrier a little bit more, but I don't really know if that is just because I have stopped eating a substantial lunch at work & shifted to eating a breakfast when I get home so I can take my pill. (I work 3rd shift) That is about all I am noticing so far.

My goal is to lose about 50 lbs before I got back to the Dr in Sept. She will be rechecking my numbers again, so I hope to have improved.

I am adding some non-scale goals in for the week also because I have a bunch of things going on that I need to get accomplished as well. I am hoping posting them will keep me on my toes.

My daughter will be graduating from high school in June & with that a few months later comes me moving into a new place. There is so much stuff in this house that the only way I will be able to get it all ready to go is to start ASAP. I have done small amounts but I need to kick it up a notch or 2.

Starting weight (2/27/17): 282
Week #1 (3/6/17): 279.8
Total Lost: 2.2lbs

My goals for this week:

** Exercise at least 30 minutes a day (it is ok to start out slow!! A little extra movement is better than no movement!!)

** Follow my food plan

Non-Scale Goals for the week:

** Clean & pack the rest of the book shelf

** Give Sophie a bath & "spring clean" the bathroom
