I read in a blog entry about a really cool website (Thanks AutieJ) - www.bluebulbproject.com/measur
So, I tried this out. It is kinda funny but gives a very good visual of how much you weigh, your goal weight, and how much you have lost. I chose 5 things that were the most visual for me (animals, of course), and have listed the average results so far below.
Starting Weight - 220 lbs =
2 North Pacific Giant Octopi
Weight Lost - 10 lbs =
0 NPG Octopi (haven't lost one of those yet
1/2 a Dachshund (not sure how the other half of the dachshund feels about that)
Goal Weight - 120 lbs =
1 NPG Octopus
Left to Release Into the Wild*** - 90 lbs =
1 NPG Octopus
5.5 Dachshunds (hopefully the halves will be reunited)
So, my zoo is being released, one by one. Here is to it getting smaller and smaller by the day until it is the right size zoo for me. And thinking of it in these terms, weight loss doesn't seem quite so hard. Be happy to lose a hamster, and look forward to the beautiful release party for the octopus!
***Never, ever, ever release a pet into the wild, no matter what type of pet it is. It is usually a death sentence. If it is already wild, why not leave it there? It's happy.
North Pacific Giant Octopus - 100 to 110 lbs average
Dachshund - 20 lbs average
Cat - 10 lbs average
Chihuahua - 5 lbs average
Siberian Hamster - 1/2 lb average
