Quick update

Monday, February 27, 2017

I haven't been sparking like I normally do. My son had influenza A and pneumonia. He came home from his group home and spent the week with me. I swear I have been following him around like a puppy with a bottle of Lysol, Chlorox, and doing lots of laundry! He has spent most of the week sleeping or lying on the couch. I have spent most of the week cleaning and disinfecting things! He is now up and moving, but still not quite back to his normal self. He still has a heavy cough.

Saying that, I haven't been getting in my normal exercise like I usually do - disrupted routine! I have been getting on the treadmill and also doing lots of walking around in the house, but it just isn't the same as a good workout! Not to mention, my eating hasn't been on track either. When I am home, without a project going on, I tend to think about food a lot! Positive side, the snacking has been on fruits, nuts and mostly healthy stuff. Negative side - I haven't been tracking all those little tastes of this or that and I have had more diet soda that usual. My tracking last week sucked. The scale made an upward climb of .6 - however given that I really thought it would have done that the week prior AND I haven't truly been focused - I can live with that!

Oh, and one more positive - with that at home time, I was able to complete my business tax return and get started on mine. So one thing off the to do list!

So today it is back to work. Back to my routines. Back to tracking. Back to drinking lots of water. Back to what works for me.

Dang - being a care taker takes a lot out of you! I wasn't at work - but I sure feel worn out! Hoping my war on the germs worked and feeling worn out evaporates as I better care of myself! It is so easy to lose track of one's self when care taking someone else!

Have a great week everyone!

I hope you take some time to take care of yourself and I am also hoping that your son gets back to his norm soon! It IS quite the task to take care of someone else! I know when I was taking care of my mom i spent a lot of time just worn completely out. That was before I leaned that I had to take time to care for myself too or I wouldn't have the energy to care for her!

Hope your son gets totally better soon, and you are so right, being a caregiver is a taxing job. Hope you get the rest you need and recharge your batteries. You'll get back on track and with all that you are doing, I'm sure you got your exercise in. Just think about it.

You take care, be safe, and stay healthy!

Hope your son feels better, it has gone around here so bad, the flu and virus that they have closed the schools up to a week in some districts. Lucily I have avoided it, but have to visit the hospital tomorrow for some tests and I never fail to leave that place without picking up something.

Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you - and glad your son is recovering. It's always hard to take care of yourself when you're so busy caring for someone else. You will get right back to where you want to be - that's the kind of determination you have.

Caretaking is hard and we have a lot of them here on Spark people. Many of them are older and taking care of spouses and their elderly parents. Takes a lot out of you and you have to remember to take care of yourself. Glad your son is on the mend and I hope you don't get sick.

Yep, being a care taker is a lot of work! When my Dad was in the hospital and at home, we were exhausted! So just make sure to take care of you! Glad you are back to your routine and glad your son is better! We love our routines!
