And 2017 Starts With a Bang!

Hi everyone! I know it's been awhile since I've blogged...or really been catching up with anything Sparkpeople. But I received good news yesterday! However, in order to understand the good news, I have to tell you guys about the bad news first. So lets back up and explain!
Around September, I started to feel a bit of knee pain going on in my left knee. The pain shows up when I put weight on it like climbing stairs or kneeling/crouching. I never gave it much thought until Yami mentioned that she had knee pain there. After that I started to really notice it.
I went to my doc in November who ordered me to have X-rays and an MRI to determine what the pain was from. According to the MRI, I had something consistent with Grade III to Grade IV chondromalacia. I was told by my doc that the best case scenario would be cortisone shots to the knee and the worst would be surgery.
I was thrilled, obviously.
I had an appointment set for January 9th, yesterday, with an orthopedic doctor. Luckily, he didn't see the need for either of the above scenarios and I was told that I would need to go to physical therapy and that I should start to lose weight again so there was less strain on my knee. He said that with that, the pain would go away. I asked if it was indeed true that the pain would go away then and he said yes, absolutely.
So now...back on the band wagon. Even if it means just eating healthier for now and taking it slow on fitness since most cardio will hurt my knee. Either way, looks like I will have to get back to healthy to be pain-free.
And that was how my 2017 started, lol! Not too shabby even though I'm way late in updating!
