Snow Day In The South
Friday, January 06, 2017
I live in Memphis. In Memphis when a snowflake is predicted the shelves of the grocery stores empty of bread, milk and eggs (I've often wondered why those specific items have to do with snow survival but I digress). In Memphis when snow actually falls the city comes to a halt. We don't know what to do with snow. We don't know how to cope with it. We don't know how to drive in it. We know our neighbors to the north laugh at us but really y'all when you get snow maybe once or twice a year it doesn't make sense to spend money on the kind of snow related infrastructure y'all have. In a city of over 600,000 people...we have at best 10 snow plows, and that's if they actually purchased the ones they were discussing in March of 2015...if they didn't...we have TWO. TWO.
So a snow day is time to stay in, eat and drink warm things, and apparently make French Toast.
