2016 in Review and 2017 = a New Me
Thursday, January 05, 2017
2016 was a rough year for me. My MIL moved in with us. She had Alzheimers/dementia and I was her caregiver. She passed away on Dec 1. My new kiltmaking business took off. We had a nightmare of home improvements which ended with us going to a lawyer on Dec 30th because the contractor caused $15,000+ worth of damages on a $17,000 job. It was hard to focus on losing weight. One thing I am grateful for is I basically stayed the same. I was one pound lower than my 2016 starting weight.
Though I will say - there were a couple of highlights in 2016 -- I have two new grandchildren!
2017 = a new year and ready to be a new me. My goal this year is to reach Onderland. It will be a struggle but I will strive to reach it.
I have been learning a lot from Dr. Jade Teta from Metabolic Effect. Now I just got to put it into practice. One article I was reading today really brought things into focus. This hit me right between the eyes..."Hands down your diet is the single biggest change needed...in order to see dramatic change in the body, there has to be dramatic change in the diet and this change has to be adhered to upwards of 90 to 95% of the time." That is my biggest struggle - I adhere to it probably 50%-75% of the time - thinking little bit here or there won't hurt. Well, I definitely need to work on that and strive for the 90-95%.
Another eye opener was..."that rigid adherence to a schedule is a key factor in success.... a person must adhere to that program 90 to 95% of the time. The only way that is possible is by scheduling it as a priority in the day. Not only should a person know exactly what time they are going to eat everyday, but they should also know exactly what they are going to eat." Oops again. Currently I don't plan what to eat until it is time. This will again be something I need to work on. Time to make plans and stick to them.
