Opening the door to 2017

I've been waiting for this. A brand new year, and a chance to get my head back into the game of losing weight and getting stronger. I've been working on about a million new year's resolutions over the past few weeks - apparently I could use some improvement in more than one area of my life. Anyway, I've got it narrowed down to a few that I think might be doable.
First, be a better Sparkfriend. DH says I spend too much time on my computer, but he'll just have to learn to live with it. Last year my contact with my Sparkfriends was minimal, and I can't do it without you! So, expect to hear more from me this year. I'm looking forward to keeping that resolution!
Second, I plan to stop drinking soda pop. This is not as easy as it sounds. I've tried and failed several times before, but I figure if I try often enough eventually it will take. It took me more than one try to quit smoking (many years ago) but I haven't smoked in decades. I doubt if diet cola is as addictive as tobacco, but I have to wonder what it is that put in that stuff that makes it so hard to eliminate from my life.
Third, I'm joining the gym, which I wrote about yesterday. I believe they're closed today, but I can join online. It may take me a couple of days to get started as the cold that has been kicking my butt for the last week has left me with a nasty cough and I'm really exhausted. What I can do today is weigh myself (moment of truth - not looking forward to it) and take all the measurements. It's a start.
On the whole, I'm feeling very positive about this New Year. I know I can turn it into a shining success. It will just take a lot of polishing. And a lot of walking, cycling, swimming, dancing, lifting free weights... Let me at it!
