Who am I... What do I wish for 2017?
Saturday, December 31, 2016
I am a woman of substance and generosity, an optimist but no one's fool.
My fortune lies in my ability to laugh and find the humor in the most exasperating and challenging aspects of daily life, in friends and family, in knowing that the moment taken to smile or call someone by name unexpectedly is worth more than a donation check in the mail.
I am a woman of words, rarely few, yet also a lover of music and silence, of what is expressed in the eyes, the shrug of a shoulder, the hunched over form of a person alone on a bus stop bench.
I spend infinitely more time dwelling on my shortcomings and things I probably cannot change, than I do operating from the perspective I have shared above as to who I am.
My goal for the coming new year 2017 and beyond is to appreciate the woman I am in a more balanced way. To trust in myself and build on my strengths, to be kind and patient in my vulnerability.
Continuing to appreciate and actively participate with the wonderfully diverse and caring network of human beings in my life, 2017 will bring greater awareness, healing, and peace. The sorrows and darker moments that come to us all will be eased by the sharing.
May the new year bring us all to love, to hope, to forgiveness and tolerance. May we appreciate each moment and act of peace and do all within our power to carry that forward.
