"May I return...to the beginning..."

I'm back after a long season of well suck to be honest...a few days after my last blog post my sister-in-law helped herself to all of my parents-in-law's savings and I slid into a spiral that is just now finally bottoming out. During that interval we've lost both of my parents-in-law within a 13 month period, shortly after that happened my husband lost his job and with it our health insurance. We have spent the last two years among the uninsured and my health has taken the brunt of it. As I write this blog I'm less than 24 hours out of the hospital where I was treated for my uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure and the chest pain that sent me to the ER in the first place. I have to schedule a heart cath in a few days but at least I am home for Christmas.
I'm back on a medication regimen to manage my metabolic syndrome and I'm a new insulin user. I'm trying to plot out the care and feeding of a gluten-free, vegetarian, diabetic right now and that brought me back to SparkPeople and the amazing tracking software and support system that exists here. I may not be the poster child for success but I'd like to think I'm the poster child for persistence. I've been a member (mostly inactive but a member) for 10 years.
My current program is a 2000 calorie ADA diet within my gluten-free and vegetarian needs.
