I know I dropped off the face of the earth. Due to a retirement and a resulting reorganization I got a new manager who was very had to work for/please. I was used to being he golden child high achiever in my group. This lady already had her favorite pet and her team learned that to please her you had to be quite a brown noser. Ugh! I did so well under my old manager!! He and I complemented each others skills well. Now i was working for a showhorse. Even worse, she had a bad reputation in my division for causing trouble and pushing the envelope. She had an extemely high opinion of herself and thought she should be the vice president. Geez! Give it a rest lady! It was getting around that she was badmouthing her superiors. Not the kind of person I wanted to be associated with. As a result of the personality issues and her requirement that 40hrs just be a starting point, I had to start skipping my beloved Zumba classes. My physical and mental health were taking a dive. They finally got rid of her and we just floated in limbo for about six months till they hired some Gen Xer to be a DIRECTOR!! He was from out of state and didn't know our policies and state laws regarding budget and spending. I had to help him do his budget at the last second and ignore my own programs which caused problems for me. Anyways the Old Guy watched me get sicker and sicker and offered to make me a trophy wife. So, I stopped working for the first time in my life. I'm keeping busy with planning my move to a less expensive city, smaller community and smaller house. I did get a membership to 24 hr fitness started too. I'm broken down but I can do therapy in the pool. Talk to you guys later.

Toxic work environments take a toll on our whole selves, not just the 8+ hours we sit tied to our cubicle/computer/desk. I'm glad you were able to leave that behind and start over. I'll be curious to see how my own situation changes when I'm out on STD starting in January...I'll have to go back eventually, we need the health coverage and my income, but my own job may change a lot over the next few months and I may return to do something else...we'll see. Glad you are back, you were missed!
