Very thankful today. My dad has had Shingles for just about three weeks. On Thanksgiving, he was able to come to my house. He was actually here about four hours! I did not expect him to be here that long and really did not even know if he would make it here or not. He is past the stage of being contagious but it is still lingering and has wiped him out! He is so tired. He has had the Shingles on his eye! Hard to see him this way! He turns 81 in January and is very active so to see him down for so long - oh my! It is hard on our family. I know it takes time though!

I still have the crud! Hubby is getting it too - should say has it too. Bummer! I am really good at keeping my germs to myself but can't really help what I do in my sleep! emoticon I am suppose to have a procedure done on Thursday but will need to cancel it. I turned 50 this year and this is a procedure they recommend at 50 so it will not be a big deal to cancel it and reschedule for after the New Year. Too much going on this time of year! EVen though I have the crud I am determined to keep active. Just walked for 35 minutes on my treadmill so go me! emoticon

I read while I walk and I am reading The Daniel Cure. It is a really good book. I believe that I am going to try to eat that way permanently. My ladies prayer group does the Daniel fast at the first of the year every year. This is where this idea comes from and I feel so good eating this way even if that is not why I am doing this fast. Just think about all the junk we put in our bodies on a daily basis! I do not think God intended it this way! just think of all that was available when he created the world. Fresh fruits and veggies! ;) I am not a vegetarian so let's not go there but I believe in eating lots of these!
I better scoot for now but I got a lot on my mind so hopefully I will be back soon!
Have a blessed day!

Remember that what most people refer to as the "Daniel fast" was done only because the Israelites in bondage in the king's house wanted to avoid foods that were not Kosher. They would have eaten meat had it been within the Jewish dietary guidelines.
The so-called Daniel fasts that are done in certain churches are not Biblical. The pastors arbitrarily choose an entire food group to avoid for a certain length of time. I doubt many of them have degrees in nutrition, nor do they seem to know that a balanced diet is not putting a body under duress.
Daniel's actual fast, described in chapter 10, lasted three weeks and he ate no food that he liked.
