Today is day one of striving for my main goal, which is to run a half marathon in June. I ran it 3 years ago and it was a huge accomplishment of mine just to finish. Well, I did just that and then didn't have any future goals for running. I was in the best shape of my life doing both running and lifting weights, but once I hit my goal, I had nothing to aim for. This time I have a goal to do the Grandma's Half Marathon and then another one in the fall 2017 and each year adding on one more half marathon or pulling out all stops and running full marathons.
I honestly haven't been in this bad of shape in many many years. As me and my husband were sitting in recliners watching Wheel of Fortune I thought man... is this where I want to be the rest of my life? Getting home from work and watching TV for endless hours and commercial cleaning? Oh hell no. I want to have motivation, energy and the drive to get things done - with my health, home AND family. We were doing really good walking right after work, but then he hurt his back and hasn't been able to, so I quit as well. Today, I brought my workout clothes with me to work and will begin my journey of going to the gym right after work. No excuses. They gym, seriously, is across the hall from my office. I go there almost daily over lunch and workout - but by no means do I push myself. I don't want to sweat and be uncomfortable the rest of the day. So, workout clothes packed and I WILL be a sweaty mess after work! Here’s to day one of many days of healthy choices!!
