Yesterday I went Halloween costume shopping. When I got to the checkout, the clerk asked if I needed to try it on since there were no returns. I said it surely would fit since it was a 'one size fits most'. But we at least pulled it out of the packaging. It looked big enough. (The old me would have worried if anything could fit even though I wore a 10/12.)
The clerk then paid me the best compliment ever. She said, "Honey, if I looked as good as you, I would definitely get this costume."
You see, I still see my short squat self when I look in the mirror. I know in my head I am much smaller (size 4/6 now), but my eyes haven't caught up yet...not even in pictures of myself. So her comment was flattering, but also surprising.
Anyway, I got the costume home...it's a red flapper dress by the way. I tried it on and it fit like a glove. Yikes! What if I was a size 8, which is a long from large? It worked out for me, but one size fits most???? I think not. One size fits most smalls more like it.
I'm excited about Halloween this year. This costume looks amazing on me. And I will get to wear it again to a gala in December which features period costuming.
