My sweet girl, Oreo

Tuesday, September 06, 2016

Last week we had to put our Oreo to sleep. That was the hardest thing Ive ever been through, I was completely devastated.

We were always together, day & night, for 12 wonderful years. She was our hiking buddy and loved playing with her Frisbee. Get her around water and you couldnt get her out.

That night, my DH asked if the lady we got Oreo from had any new puppies and after crying for a steady 24 hours I knew I needed to do something so I looked, first at the Border Collie Rescue site then her page and there was nothing but I did find another batch of puppies born on June 1. Oreo was born on June 2.

I spent an agonizing morning wondering if I was ready for a puppy so soon then I read a letter sent to me by a friend and there was this paragraph that touched me. It said “I will await your arrival as we are always meant to be together. Please do not hold onto the love that you shared with me, but share it with another so that I may live on forever in your heart. “ I will miss you forever and remember all the things we did together with a grateful heart.

I taught her to smile by puffing out her lips, so adorable.

In loving memory of Oreo June 1, 2004 - August 29, 2016

So meet Belle, Oreo would be proud of her little sister and knowing we are sharing our love.

I understand your feelings, I had to put Dora, lab mix, down when was 14 - 1/2, It was so hard. I now have Poppy, who I got from a shelter and have no idea what kind of mix she is, but she is sweet and loving and ADHD but she is wonderful. Getting another dog does NOT mean you love the one you lost any less, it is a tribute to how much you love Oreo. You will see Oreo again at the Rainbow bridge

I am so sorry to hear about Oreo, I've been seeing her picture here on Spark for so long I feel like I know her. I'm sure she is looking down from the Rainbow Bridge and is happy to see her little sister. Belle is just adorable and we look forward to seeing lots of pictures and to learn of all the tricks you are teaching her.

How precious, your Oreo is smiling down on her sister...I'm so happy for you...My fur-baby of 16 years passed 3 years ago and last summer I felt it was time, we rescued our fur-baby named Sunshine from the Shelter, I knew Miss Sunshine was for me especially after finding out she had the same name as our 16 yr. old... I just wanted to give you a virtual hug for what you went through. And for opening your heart and home to another beautiful pup. Dogs are so amazing and we get them for such a short time. I'm sorry for your loss and happy for your new addition!
