30 day juice fast--challenge complete!

30 days. That's how long I took to fast/cleanse. And you know what? It was worth it. I didn't count calories. I didn't eat in moderation. I just got up, threw a bunch of fruits and veggies in my mom's juicer, put that in to go water bottles, and for 30 days I consumed just that. It was an amazing experience and so much has happened during that time. I feel so fresh, free, focused, and full of energy. Never before have I felt more in control. And I jump started my healthy lifestyle with a 27-pound weight loss. And let me tell you, that's not even the best part.
The best part is I no longer feel at war with my body. My mind is in control of how I eat and not my tongue and its cravings. I want healthier foods and I even spent some time preparing to eat solid foods again. I spent time on pinterest finding vegan meals to try later, many I know I can get my daughter to eat. I can't wait to try the gluten free vegan mac n cheese made with butternut squash and cauliflower. In my freezer right now I have three bags of vegan stroganoff and two bags of tortilla soup all ready and I still have more to prepare. I have about a million soup recipes and I even bought an ice cream maker to try a lot of the vegan ice cream recipes I've been saving. I'm still slowly easing out of the fast so I'm not quite ready for them yet but that just means I have more time to prepare. I still have a freezer bag curry and minestrone soup I need to get going for later, and a couple of good stews and homemade tomato soup. I think I may also want to start canning so I can have a cabinet full of salsas and garden fresh marinara sauce ready for winter. But man, canning jars are pricey. I think it would be worth it though. You can't put a good price on healthy.
As well as the weight loss, change in food cravings, and a newfound sense of control, I also have more energy and less body soreness. I have an easier time sleeping because my back pain has lessoned tremendously. I've spent more time with my daughter and I actually feel that this has reversed a lot of the issues I had before I started this.
I know sparkpeople doesn't recommend what I did and probably considers it a "crash diet" but you know what? I don't care. It worked. I'm doing what's right for me and I don't care what anyone who wants to talk trash has to say about it.
