Hmmmm.....just looking at the raw numbers, July doesn't look like a very impressive month for my weight loss journey. I could get frustrated by this but I have decided to view it completely differently. Here are a few positives to see-
1- In the 3 previous times I have pushed to lose weight, the summer months have been my undoing. As yard work, camping, work stresses, and other craziness took over, working out and eating healthy became afterthoughts and old habits would creep back in. The fact that I am writing this blog is proof that I am not letting this happen. I have been more lax on tracking nutrition but I'm not giving up for sure.
2- I feel like I have finally been able to enjoy the summer warmth. In the month of July, I did several hikes including an 8 mile backpacking trip. I did a bunch of bike riding which was something I had never done. I was more active with my kids which we have all enjoyed.
I set some goals for the month of July and here are the results-
1. 3000 fitbit tracked active minutes
Result- My final "active minutes" total was 4,105 minutes so definitely call that a success!!
2. 26 days of 10,000 steps
Result- 22/31...I could have been better on this one.
3. Ride 60 miles cumulative (tracked on Strava)
Result- 63.6 miles! This has been a lot of fun riding. Definitely a new hobby that I want to keep going.
So it seems like the month of August is going to play out similar to July in that we have a lot planned. We are taking the family to California for a week and have a few other campouts planned. Here are my goals for August.
1- 3500 fitbit tracked active minutes
2- Track nutrition every day on Sparkpeople
3- 75 miles of bike riding tracked by Strava
