Vancouver Island bike ride - 4 days with good friends
Monday, July 18, 2016
On July 11-14, I went on a 4 day bike ride with 4 good friends to South Vancouver Island, from Tsawassen to Victoria to Sooke and back along the Galloping Goose bike trail, 180km total. This trail used to be a railroad, so there are minimal hills. I love my hiking friends, we are a loose-knit group of about 15 women who also bike, snow shoe, and have game-night dinners together.
There are lots of wild flowers, California poppies, various daisy-like yellow and white flowers, and my favourite, blue chicory
There was a hobby farm along the trail with gigantic free-range pigs, they must have weighed 500 lbs each. When we went by, they were happily wallowing in the mud.
We stopped by the Sooke Potholes, which are pools eroded into the rock bed of Sooke River.
More scenery, here the inlet by Sooke
This trip was a highlight of summer 2016
