Well its been a long time since I blogged, but now that I am re-starting once again I hope to make a better habit of my journey. I don't know what is different this time, but I don't feel like I've had this determination or drive previous re-start times. I also have finally spent the time in other areas of my life. I still suffer from depression, but the extra exercise may help. But mostly the clutter and organization is getting much better at home. I have read often that people say the clutter in the bedroom is the same as the clutter in your mind. If that was the case no wonder I was a mess! everyday it is still a struggle to keep organized but I have made huge improvements and feeling much better at home.
So to re-start I wanted to do it different from all the other times I tried and gave up. I am very shy about my weight struggle and I would often try and keep it a secret, not like people couldn't see, but I felt if I didn't talk about it no one would notice! I wanted no one to know that I was trying and then show up a wedding or event and wow everyone. Since no attempt ever stuck that moment never happened. So I started talking a little more about wanting to lose weight. I still haven't sung it to the world but I have been more open. I was pleased to know that a couple ladies at work also wanted to start. Then I realized that even though I love to read and learn about health and nutrition I never made myself a plan. So I contacted a good friend who just happens to be a trainer.
The 3 of us met with the trainer last night. We did a full assessment such as measurements, fitness tests and lots of talking about goals and struggles. I felt comfortable with the other girls and was really surprised that all our struggles and goals were very similar. Also all 3 of us were former athletes who were sidelined due to injuries. It was hard but a good start.
I also decided to start posting and tracking some healthy options on Instagram. I'm not one to post daily, but I hope as many times a week as I do something positive to note it with a picture. Last night I posted all my home workout gear with the tag "Actions speak louder than words" It is already my most liked post ever! You think you have support, but it surprised me of who and how many people gave me encouragement on day one! It felt great.
Sunday we meet with the trainer again and he will be giving us a plan. Since money is tight we will only be meeting with the trainer about every 6-8 weeks. We then will work together and on our own in between. Then get together again and reassess our success and get new and improved workouts to keep pushing us. Since I work with the girls I already feel I need to be more accountable for lunches. and if the trainer is going to work me out in a couple months I better prove myself.
So day one was good, day two my food is on par. I'm still working on getting my calories down, but at least my vegetable intake has dramatically improved. I will also focus on trying to get in 10,000 steps per day. Right now I just use the gps and an App called Moves on my phone. I only track about 2,500 steps on average, so this will be a big improvement.
Well after work I hope to get in a walk tonight and make dinner at home, not too much of changes but enough to get started and to keep the ball rolling!
